Birthing Center

Have Your Baby the Way You've Always Dreamed

Bradley County Medical Center's hospital-based alternative birthing center offers a private, home-like environment and a sensitive, choice-oriented staff. Beautifully decorated private rooms feature a state-of-the-art birthing bed, entertainment center, and other comfortable touches. We maintain a good balance between high technology and high touch, incorporating current equipment with a wide variety of personal choices.

For over 20 years, we have helped mothers bring their babies into the world gently and lovingly, using the latest birthing techniques, focusing on the mother's needs, and allowing for personal choice throughout delivery. Our philosophy focuses on family-centered care. We believe birth is a natural, healthy process and we welcome the involvement of family, friends and loved ones.

Birthing Choices

We encourage personal choice and freedom of movement during labor. We offer the longest period of quiet bonding time available...even babies delivered by cesarean section can join mothers in the recovery room. We also honor your own detailed Birth Plan, because we know it communicates your personal wishes regarding birth environment, procedures, pain relief, and how your baby is welcomed into the world. For the safety of mother and child, our Birthing Center operates on the leading edge of technology, keeping pace with the latest innovations and trends in childbirth, including current techniques such as ultrasound.

Personalized Attention

Our outstanding Birthing Center nurses provide quality, personalized attention. Their expertise in labor and delivery, childbirth education, lactation consultation and neonatal emergency care, as well as post-partum care, has helped thousands of families with newborns get off to a good start. The entire Birthing Center staff is committed to giving your family a positive birth experience, one that ensures a smooth transition in bringing your baby into the family. We especially enjoy helping first-time parents work together through labor, delivery and the first few days as a new family.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have and welcome comments about your experiences at Bradley County Medical Center's Labor & Delivery Department. Krissy Morrison, RN, is the Labor & Delivery Department Manager. Please write her via e-mail at or call her at (870) 226-4512.

BCMC Radiology to Offer State-of-the-Art Genius™ 3D Mammography™ Exams Starting Feb. 23

The Bradley County Medical Center Radiology Department is excited to offer Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exams, developed by Hologic, Inc., a worldwide leader in Women's Health beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Utilizing advanced breast tomosynthesis technology, Genius exams are clinically proven to significantly increase the detection of breast cancers, and also decreasing the number of women asked to return for additional testing.

In conventional 2D Mammography, overlapping tissue is a leading reason why small breast cancers may be missed and normal tissue may appear abnormal, leading to unnecessary callbacks. A Genius exam includes a three-dimensional method of imaging that can greatly reduce the tissue overlap effect.
